Spotlight #19 — Lynn Nguyen

The timeless tales of heartbreak and longing are reimagined through a modern lens in the dark work of Sydney multi-disciplinary artist, Lynn Nguyen.

Drawing inspiration from folklore, fashion and romantic art, Lynn’s visual art straddles the line between chaotic and engineered — resulting in a new-aged baroque style. Seamlessly weaving between digital and analog mediums, her storytelling inspirations carry themselves over into her music project with fellow artist J.S.D Andrews, DARKSEA. With an upcoming performance at GoodSpace, Lynn shares with us some of her work and improvised tracks.

See some of her work below.

DARKSEA

Wednesday 13 November
Level 1, GoodSpace Gallery
Opening Thursday 7 November from 7pm

Utilising collaborative, improvisational experimental music performance DARKSEA is the project of Sydney-based artists Lynn Nguyen and J.S.D. Andrews. The couple’s recordings are sonically rich atmospheric drone pieces captured in one take. Unrehearsed prior to recording, their soundscapes reflect a transient moment of intimacy with Nguyen and Andrews conceptually and physically on a shared performative frequency.
