Spotlight #6 — Ying Wang

Traditional illustration meets the digital age in the works
of Ying Wang.

Hailing from the northern suburbs of Melbourne, Ying Wang brings an air of confidence and freshness to the scene. Bold colour and strong linework make up the foundations of Ying's work, but what sets her apart is her subject matter. Like a refined scrapbook, her layered collages draw you in and keep you lingering within the folds detail. Focusing on everyday objects—be it ginger root or square watermelons—Ying explores the relationship of her subjects to reveal new perspectives on the ordinary.
